My Story

This sculpture is a collection of costumes and artwork from my time on stage as a Greater Manchester Drag Artist. My artwork and style is heavily inspired by the 1980’s, anything that sparkles, big hair, punk energy, gothic glamour, horror icons and the occasional camp clownery. “A drag artist is a person who uses clothing, makeup and performance to play with and exaggerate ideas of gender for entertainment”. The connections to my art is that Drag really is everywhere and always has been. From the dame in your Christmas pantomime, the camp yet cruel villain on screen at the movies, the chaotic clown spinning plates at the circus, to the lady at the bar in her best frock on a Saturday night. Drag - it’s an art form that is always changing shape and it is everywhere.
