My Story
Jon Faragher (1967-2025) was a multimedia visual artist with a diverse skill set ranging from printing to video installations. He had a passion for things which could be described as techno-fossils, obsolete objects that have become a hidden or forgotten part of the landscape. His practice, a form of technological archaeology brought together research and making and he used knowledge from his early career in engineering to interrogate these items and make artistic pieces based on his findings, producing works which have a unique perspective of places or objects. Aesthetically, he used modes of display or methods of information presentation that were redolent of the practice of engineering such as laser scanning, CAD drawings and technological site processes. Jon graduated from the Art Academy London in 2020 with a 1st class diploma in Fine Art.

Description: This piece aims to appear as the output of some deeply technical process. Jon’s practice involved looking at the remains of technology; in this case the technology used for remote sensing and scanning. The jumbled wreckage of Nore army fort, partially hidden by the water at high tide, and obscured by the coating of seaweed is revealed and the purpose of the parts shown.
