More from our recent underground jaunt but away from the bright lights of the platforms things got a bit more grimy and dark. The ventilation tunnel and the original construction access tunnel were part of the tour - the construction tunnel had to be 'bent' around the foundations of Nelson's Column and the ventilation tunnel was rather eerie as it bent away into darkness and pitch black.

Best thing about photography in big cities? Lots of different architectural styles and the obligatory cranes. Sad to see so many old and beautiful buildings being overshadowed by ever increasing tower blocks. Still at least the skies were blue - briefly!

Mind the Gap. These signs are everywhere on the London Underground but we've never seen one from this angle before - stood on an access platform above a ventilation grill over the Northern Line. Another unique behind the scenes access point on our recent hidden London tour at Charing Cross. We did get a train stopping at the station and setting off again just after this. Quite bizarre and yes those are our boots on the second and third photos.

I've got my eye on you. A different view of the London Eye taken from across the Thames. Normally there's buildings in the way when taking a long shot but courtesy of the trees at Somerset House we managed to get a rural landscape of this London landmark.

Red Bull gives you wings..literally in this case, a gorgeous 68 year old DC6. This is just one of the Flying Bulls fleet based at Salzburg airport and which also consists of WW2 fighters, helicopters and even amphibious aircraft. We've seen them a few times in the UK and whether it's just one of their fleet or a multiple aircraft show it's a guaranteed highlight. This was shot at the Duxford D-Day show in June 2024 and the sight (and sound) of such a large aircraft in a fantastic paint scheme being flung around the sky was brilliant.

Hard to believe it's 2 years since we paid our first and, to date, only visit to the Humber Bridge. It was a foul day weatherwise but the sight of the bridge and taking a trip across it made up for getting ourselves and cameras soaked. Overdue a revisit in good weather this time?

Very pleased with this, though relying on natural light in undergrowth is probably not the best option. No idea what species this is - it is a fly. Just love the detail on it and also the leaf it's on. Think we are going to have some good fun with the new macro lens.

Just working on a road trip for later in the year and planning on going back to Skye. We were last there 15 years ago (!) and were blown away with the views and the sunsets. Can't wait to go back plus planning our usual meandering route to get there!

Went out for a test run with the macro lens today, bought courtesy of my retirement gift from my former work colleagues. Perfect weather - a sunny Bank Holiday Sunday - and some obliging local fauna. This is quite a wide shot - got some proper 'macro' shots too, but just love the colours on this, not bad for a starter. Never 100% sure on plant species - we think it's buttercups and cow parsley?

Sometimes its all about the timing and composition and having a 'photographer's eye'. On our recent trip to Lytham Viv spotted this and quickly captured the moment. Myself and the other photographer were obviously busy doing our own thing and had no idea. Wonderful!

Our second Scottish shipwreck of the week - the Corpach Wreck or the Old Boat of Caol depending on which you prefer. That's Ben Nevis looming in the background, always a dramatic sight and a perfect background to the wreck which was or is the MV Dayspring. It's a well-photographed subject, we've been a few times - its on the shores of Loch Linnhe a few miles outside Fort William. If you're heading toward Mallaig or that other photography hotspot of Glenfinnan you will pass this and well worth stopping for.

Spent a wonderful Sunday afternoon at Aspull Dog Club's 40th anniversary taking photos and some video of some gorgeous dogs (and their owners) with displays and stalls it was a first for us and we loved it.

We paid a quick visit in the last few days to Cross Street Arts meeting the wonderful @jane_fairhurst_art when we noticed a print on a wall by one of the other artists and it just struck a chord. These boats were on Mull at a place called Salen Beach just at the side of the main road and we just couldn't resist phtographing them. They are known as the Salen wrecks. They are well photographed, drawn and painted. Just wonderful that a location we visited 8 years ago turns up as a great piece of art on a studio wall half a mile from home.

What a difference some sunshine makes. Had some mixed weather recently but some spring sunshine really gives a different feel to what can often be the most simple of scenes with lush shadows and sparkling highlights.
