A behind the scenes look as members of the Round Canopy Parachuting Team get ready for the first of their D Day 80 commemorative jumps.

This was at the IWM Duxford Summer Airshow on 2nd June 2024 and we were lucky to watch this amazing sight up close.

After getting their chutes on they waited for their transports to land - 3 C47s, and got a briefing on their Drop Zone just outside the village of Carentan in Normandy. A battle site from the Normandy campaign and into which they dropped that afternoon after the flight from Duxford.

Fascinating to watch the whole embarkation process - like watching Band of Brothers in real life. Hats off to this great group of people helping keep the spirit and memory alive of those brave young men who did this for real 80 years ago. Thank you to them and the veterans they commemorate.
